It goes something like this.
St. Patrick was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at 16. After years of slavery, Saint Patty escaped but returned to Ireland as a saint and an apostle. He taught many people about Christianity and the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) using Ireland’s native flower, the three-leaf clover. After many years of preaching and traveling, St. Patty died on March 17, 461 A.D. If we fast-forward to the 1600s, the first recorded parade was to celebrate his accomplishments by holding the parade and a large feast. Now, to this day, we still celebrate it and have fun doing it. We get to laugh, celebrate, and spend time with family and friends.
