What’s the difference between dirt and MiracleGro? Not mulch. That’s a joke, by the way. Anyways, spring is just out of our grasp, and that means that you’ll be getting outside to do some landscape work and sprucing up the house a bit. We want to let you know, CLEANbee is now doing mulch! You heard right; we are now mulching for our customers, but our prices are still affordable, and our quality is still high! Mulching began in the Stone Ages to prevent weeds in the gardens. Many ancient gardens have used this technique all across Europe as farming was prevalent there.
If we fast forward to the 1600-the 1800s, Europeans and Asians used seaweed to prevent weeds. They placed the seaweed as mulch around their houses and buildings to help plants grow but kill the weeds!
Moving forward a little more, and from the 1900s on, we have found different things to use as mulch, such as recycled rubber, cocoa shells, newspaper scraps, peanut shells, hay, pine needles, lawn clippings, wood chips, and even ground-up corn cobs!
Nowadays, we use mostly wood chips as mulch due to their texture and beauty around a house. We’ve come a long way in agriculture since the Stone Age, and we have to keep on progressing and growing.
